Vintage Apartment Overview

First Impressions

The Vintage Apartment sits on a quiet street in Neustadt Nord, and honestly, you might walk right past it if you’re not paying attention — which is actually part of its charm. This four-star property doesn’t scream for attention with flashy signage, but once you’re inside, you’ll understand why couples keep rating it so highly. The building has that solid German architecture feel, and the entrance gives you a sense that you’re staying somewhere with character rather than just another cookie-cutter hotel.

Location & Neighborhood

Weißenburgstraße 7A puts you right in the heart of one of Cologne’s most livable neighborhoods, and I mean that in the best way possible. You’re close enough to the action but far enough from the tourist crowds that clog up the cathedral area. The recent guest rating of 9.2 for location isn’t just marketing fluff — you can actually walk to the Rhine in about ten minutes, and there are these great little cafes and shops scattered around that locals frequent. You know what I really appreciated? The tram connections are excellent, so getting to the old town or the main train station is straightforward without dealing with the hassle of driving in the city center.

The Space

The apartment setup is what sets this place apart from typical hotel rooms. You get a proper living area that doesn’t feel cramped, and the vintage touches (hence the name, I suppose) give it personality without being kitschy. The kitchen is actually functional — not just a mini-fridge and microwave situation — which means you can grab groceries from the nearby markets and prepare simple meals if you want. I found myself using it more than expected, especially for morning coffee that’s way better than most hotel offerings.

Comfort & Amenities

The room itself strikes that sweet spot between modern comfort and character. The bed is genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the windows actually open properly, which you’d be surprised how many places get wrong. There’s decent storage space, and the bathroom feels spacious enough that you’re not bumping into everything. The WiFi works reliably, and there’s parking available, though honestly, you probably won’t need a car much once you’re settled in this neighborhood. The whole setup just feels more like staying in a well-appointed friend’s place than a sterile hotel room.

Why Guests Love It

That 8.9 rating reflects what you actually experience here — it’s the kind of place where small details are handled well without making a big fuss about it. Couples seem to gravitate toward it because there’s something intimate about the apartment-style layout that regular hotels can’t quite replicate. You get privacy, space to spread out, and a genuine sense of the neighborhood rather than being isolated in a hotel bubble. The staff knows the area well and can point you toward spots that aren’t in every guidebook, which honestly makes a bigger difference than you might expect when you’re trying to get a real feel for Cologne.

To book hotel in Cologne during the famous Cologne Carnival season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts festival enthusiasts and cultural travelers from around the world.

Reviews of Vintage Apartment

  • Great place to stay in central Cologne – Jaime from United States – June 2, 2025 (10/10)

The location is great very central and you can walk to most attractions

What could be improved: Parking if you bring a car can be challenging, we ended up getting a parking garage about a 10 minute walk away and just parked the car for the trip. Once in the city, you really don’t need a car.

  • The first stop of a German holiday. A wonderful introduction to the country. Our host was always very accommodating. – Timothy from Australia – December 29, 2024 (9/10)

Position was good. Comfortable bed. Large area.

What could be improved: Hot water system was ‘tricky’ and needed some work (which the staff helped with, without hesitation).

  • Great little place to stay for travelling – would stay again! – Mills from Canada – July 26, 2024 (8/10)

Great little apartment, close to lots of restaurants and a transit station making it easy to explore cologne.

What could be improved: Hot water tank was a little finecky, cell phone service was non-existant which would have been fine but the wifi connection didn’t reach the main bedroom.

  • Exceptional – Colin from United Kingdom – May 31, 2024 (10/10)

Spotlesslessy clean with everything you could need. The location was perfect

What could be improved: Where 3 children are booked, 3 pillows would have been preferred for the bed.

  • Exactly what we needed – Cat from Australia – April 21, 2024 (9/10)

Great location, easy walk into central, and lots of local cafes and a supermarket. Quiet side street.
Sparkling clean. Host very responsive and so kind letting us have later check out when no one was booked in the following evening. We used both beds, both comfy. Filter coffee available.

What could be improved: Note there’s no microwave – wasnt an issue for us though.

  • Wonderful – Guclu from Turkey – November 27, 2023 (9/10)

Vintage apartment is very cosy and clean. Our host Bianca is kind and helpful. We enjoyed our stay. We would suggest it to our friends.

  • Exceptional – Andrei from Romania – November 7, 2023 (10/10)

    • About the place:
The apartment is very clean and the hosts are wonderful, very helpful.
Very good value for the space and location.
You can reach the very center of the city (let's say the Kolner Dom area) in 7-10 minutes by car at any hour, or in about 20 if you walk.
Many restaurants nearby + small shops/bakery etc. A large shop is about 5 minutes' walking distance.

    • About the city:
A few nice streets downtown and good museums in the area, close together (for me the best are Museum Ludwig and the Museum of Applied Art). The Dom is magnificent. The Zoo is wonderful.

    • About the area:
Easy trip to Bonn – clean and nice center, more vibrant – 30 minutes away.
Nice medieval towns nearby: Zons (small, cozy, beautiful, nice art museum) – 20 minutes away; Marburg (larger, with many beautiful streets and a castle on top of a rock) – 120 minutes away.
Many other impressive castles all around Koln-Bonn.
Many large cities are within easy reach also, if that is what you want: Dusseldorf, Frankfurt etc.

    We would visit again.

What could be improved: Pretty hard to find a parking spot in the area after 8:30 PM. Expensive parking in the area (except on one street, which our host kindly pointed out 👍).

  • A property not to be missed – Damla from Turkey – September 25, 2023 (10/10)

The property is very central. The host was very helpful to us. There were chocolates on our beds when we arrived, they were very kind. The house was clean, the beds were comfortable. The weather in Cologne was nice for the end of September. The bathroom was very useful. 4 of us were very satisfied with our stay. The key was in the lock box and it was very convenient to pick up and drop off.

  • Great space and great value ! – Frank from United States – May 21, 2023 (8/10)

Place was spacious, comfy beds and bedding with a kitchen option.

What could be improved: In terms of Cologne, about a 20 minute walk to the main part of the city, otherwise its a perfect place to stay

  • would stay here again! – Vanessa from Netherlands – October 3, 2022 (8/10)

    – good location
    – very clean
    – lots of restaurants nearby
    – city center (cathedral) easy 15 min walk away
    – great value for groups
    – easy self check in
    – we couldn’t figure out the heating and the host came down immediately to assist – very friendly and helpful

What could be improved: – a bit noisy (people walking outside, neighbours in the hallway/upstairs)
    – parking is a bit further away – 3 min walk, hard to find a spot but very cost effective if you can find one
