The moment you walk into this place on Butzweilerstrasse – honestly, it’s tucked into this massive MOTORWORLD complex that’s basically car heaven – you realize they’re serious about the whole automotive thing. I’m talking vintage cars as lobby furniture, rooms designed around everything from classic Beetles to luxury sports cars, and this industrial-meets-sleek vibe that somehow works perfectly in Cologne’s Ossendorf district.

What I love about staying here is that it doesn’t feel like some corporate designer’s idea of “car culture.” The attention to detail is genuinely impressive – I mean, my room had this Mercedes-themed setup with actual car parts integrated into the furniture, but it was still incredibly comfortable to sleep in. The beds are proper hotel quality (thank god), and the bathrooms are modern and spacious. You know what surprised me most? How quiet it gets at night. Yeah, you’re surrounded by all this automotive stuff and the MOTORWORLD complex, but the soundproofing is solid. I was worried it might be noisy being right off Butzweilerstrasse, but honestly, I slept better here than at some fancy downtown hotels.

The location is actually perfect if you want to experience Cologne beyond the typical tourist bubble around the cathedral. Ossendorf gives you this authentic local feel – there’s a great Turkish bakery just down the street that the hotel staff told me about, and getting into the city center is super easy with the S-Bahn connection nearby. Plus, if you’re traveling by car (which, let’s face it, feels appropriate here), parking is never an issue, unlike most Cologne hotels where you’re paying 20 euros a night to park three blocks away. The whole MOTORWORLD complex is worth exploring too – I spent way more time than expected checking out the classic car showrooms and that vintage motorcycle exhibition. It’s like staying inside an interactive automotive museum, but with really good room service and a bar that knows how to make a proper gin and tonic. I’d definitely come back, especially since the staff genuinely seems to enjoy working there – always a good sign.

  What could be improved: Breakfast however was far too expensive for a continental breakfast at 24 Euros per head. Double the amount it was worth and the staff could not keep up with replenishing coffee, eggs etc. Disappointing!!
