The neighborhood has that lived-in quality where you’ll find a decent döner shop within walking distance and actual Germans going about their daily business, not clusters of tourists with cameras.

What really sells this place though is the combination of being genuinely well-appointed (the kitchen actually has everything you need, not just a hot plate and some sad utensils) while still feeling connected to the city. That 2-minute walk to the U-Bahn isn’t an exaggeration – I timed it because I’m that person – and once you’re on the train, you’re looking at maybe 15 minutes to get into the heart of Cologne. The apartment itself has that new construction smell and feel, with proper heating (crucial if you’re visiting in winter) and windows that actually block out most of the street noise when closed. The bathroom is compact but thoughtfully designed, and there’s decent water pressure, which honestly matters more than you think after a day of walking around the city. I did notice the walls are a bit thin – you might hear your neighbors if they’re having a particularly animated conversation, but it wasn’t disruptive during my stay. The 9.5 rating makes sense when you factor in the price point and the fact that you’re getting a genuinely clean, functional space that doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard to be something it’s not.

Die Dusche ist wunderbar, und ich kann das beurteilen, denn ich habe in einem 4 m² Bad 25.000 € versenkt und mir das Bad so hergerichtet, wie ich es möchte
  – mitgedacht: im Schlafzimmer gibt es einen Tischverteiler mit USB Anschlüssen. Das ist wirklich klug.

  Perfekte Unterkunft. Ruhige Lage, sehr nahe am Rhein. Ideal für Familien (Familienfest am Rheinufer während des Aufenthalts). Sehr gute Verkehrsanbindung. In WC und Küche war praktisch alles vorhanden, was einen Urlaub angenehm macht. Super nette, freundliche und flexible Gastgeber. Titel und Bilder passen real zur Wohnung!
  
  What could be improved: Wermutstropfen: Während einer Veranstaltung (die wir nicht besuchen wollten) war auch hier ein erhöhter Preis zu zahlen.
  Besteck ist ausreichend für die max. Anzahl der Zimmergäste vorhanden. Für das außerordentlich hohe Niveau dieser Ferienwohnung könnte über etwas mehr (ggf. einfaches) Besteck nachgedacht werden, damit man nicht so oft die vorhandene Spülmaschine anstellen muss bzw. auch mit Besuchern etwas essen kann.
