The hotel sits right on Lülsdorfer Straße, which basically hugs the Rhine as it curves through this quieter part of the city. When I first pulled up, I wasn’t sure what to expect – it’s definitely more intimate than your typical 4-star place, maybe 20 rooms total? The whole building has this warm, residential feel that makes you forget you’re technically still in Cologne’s city limits. That fireplace they mention in the name? It’s real, and during the cooler months it actually becomes the heart of the common area. I spent way too much time there with a book and some local Kölsch, watching other guests do the same thing.

What really makes this spot special is how it sits between worlds – you’re far enough from Cologne’s center to actually hear the Rhine lapping against the banks (especially from the river-facing rooms), but close enough that the S-Bahn gets you to the Dom in about 20 minutes.
