Rheinblick Apartments Overview
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from Rheinblick Apartments when I first pulled up to Hauptstrasse 71 – honestly, it’s tucked into this pretty residential stretch of Rodenkirchen that feels more like where locals actually live than where tourists usually end up. But that’s exactly what made it work so well.
The whole setup is refreshingly straightforward. These aren’t fancy hotel rooms, they’re actual apartments with proper kitchens and enough space to spread out your stuff without tripping over your suitcase every five minutes. The “Rheinblick” part isn’t just marketing fluff either – depending on which unit you get, you really can catch glimpses of the Rhine through the trees, especially from the upper floors. I mean, it’s not some panoramic river view situation, but there’s something nice about spotting the water while you’re making coffee in the morning. The kitchens are well-equipped too, which came in handy since Rodenkirchen has this great little weekly market just a short walk away on Maternusplatz – you can actually cook with decent local produce instead of surviving on hotel breakfast alone.
What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. Hauptstrasse sounds like it might be busy, but this section is pretty residential, so you’re not dealing with late-night traffic or drunk tourists stumbling around (looking at you, Altstadt hotels). The S-Bahn station is maybe a seven-minute walk, which makes getting into central Cologne dead simple – you’re at the Dom in about fifteen minutes. But honestly, Rodenkirchen itself is worth exploring. There’s this lovely stretch along the Rhine where locals jog and walk their dogs, and the whole area has that lived-in German neighborhood vibe that’s way more interesting than staying in some sterile business district.
The staff runs things pretty casually – check-in was smooth, though don’t expect 24-hour concierge service or anything like that. It’s more of a “here are your keys, let us know if you need anything” approach, which I actually prefer. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle on the street, but they’ll sort you out with options. The 8.1 rating makes sense – it’s solidly good without trying to be something it’s not. Perfect if you want a proper base for exploring Cologne without paying city center prices, or if you’re traveling with family and need actual living space instead of cramped hotel rooms. Plus, there’s something satisfying about staying where you can walk to a proper German bakery for morning rolls instead of fighting over the hotel buffet.
The luxury concierge service in Cologne offers personalized access to private art collections, Michelin-starred dining, and VIP cultural experiences in this historic German city.

Reviews of Rheinblick Apartments
Would still book again but different apartment – Marion from Hong Kong – May 7, 2025 (8/10)
It was our second stay.
Great location, close to the lake and shops.
Also nice balcony (this time better than our stay).
Nice reception staff
What could be improved: This time we has a few issues unfortunately. The wooden tile floor needs renovation as some tiles were broken which made it harder for our toddler to run safely. We had to cover it with items.
The shower head handle on the side was broken so we had to hold the shower head in the hand.
The draining of the shower water was very slow so u cant shower too long
The light at the entrance was broken
Overall was still good enough and we didnt request to change but those issues should be fixed or price should be reduced.
We didnt have these issues at our first stay there but the flat was on a different floor. This time it was a bit more modern but less furniture.Very Good – Labuschagne from South Africa – May 3, 2025 (8/10)
The view
What could be improved: No air-conditioned roomsGood – Friendly from Germany – February 14, 2025 (7/10)
Great apartment — great bed, balcony, small kitchen. Parking is cheap with 10 Euros per night.
What could be improved: Things are a bit clumsy at times — here are some examples: 1) You need to drive somewhere (1+km away) to get the key. 2) Finding your way from the parking garage to the apartment requires some random insight as to what elevator to look for; 3) The parking garage hasn't been upgraded in decades (see for example the use of a key to get in); 4) whether or not breakfast was available was hard to determine past booking. The level of renovation and functioning in the apartment is mixed — here are some examples: i) bathroom was mixed old-/new-style; ii) light in the kitchen wasn't working; iii) fridge was freezing food.Good – Georgina from United Kingdom – February 9, 2025 (7/10)
The view was beautiful
The bed was comfortable
Very quiet, no noise because we were on the 7th floor
What could be improved: When we arrived, the bed was still messy, hadn't been made up. No one had cleaned the room.
It was really hard to find, almost impossible given the map we had was in german and we couldn't speak german. Had to ask someone for directions.a pleasant stay – Levent from Turkey – December 18, 2024 (9/10)
It is possible to reach the city center in a short time. It is very close to public transportation. The environment is safe. There are many options for shopping. The apartment has good heating. It is quiet. It is comfortable.
What could be improved: It was stated that the apartment overlooked the river, but it overlooked the street. Although it was stated that there were slippers and toiletries, none of them were there. It was a comfortable stay and great location. If they can leave the key in the locker around the apartment, it would be – Gunnur from Australia – December 17, 2024 (9/10)
The room provided everything I need. The room temperature was ideal, the bed was so comfortable, the view was awesome. I used kitchen easily as well. The location was really central and you can find stores easily around it.
What could be improved: Firstly, you need to collect the key from somewhere else and it was a bit annoying to walk there with my luggage. It was not a short distance while you are carrying on your stuff. In the apartment, there was a bulb in the kitchen, but I couldn’t find its switch to turn it on, so it was dark to cook something. It would be great to have a drink water in there.Perfect stay – Marion from Hong Kong – November 24, 2024 (9/10)

What could be improved: The baby cot was extremely dirty
Balcony not very clean

Location is excellent. The 24/7 vew of the Rhein river was a pleasure, easy Shopping around the corner, transportation at hand, underground Secure parkhaus, peace und quiet. Has everything one needs for a great short vacation.
What could be improved: As said, every needed aspect was in place. Nothing to complain about. Check in and check out were quick and efficient.Very Good – Calum from United Kingdom – June 28, 2024 (8/10)
Very nice apartment with a lovely balcony view of the Rhine! Apartment in a nice area
What could be improved: Had to walk an extra 20 mins and back with suitcases to pick up the keys. Location is in a nice area but is about 30mins on the tram from centre.Very Good – Caroline from Netherlands – May 21, 2024 (8/10)
