Nüssenberger Hof Apartments Overview

First Impressions

The Nüssenberger Hof Apartments sits quietly in Ossendorf, and honestly, that’s exactly what you want when you’re looking for a peaceful base in Cologne. This four-star property doesn’t try to wow you with flashy lobbies or over-the-top amenities — instead, it focuses on giving you a proper apartment experience with hotel-level service. The building itself has this understated German efficiency that I’ve come to appreciate, and you know what? Sometimes that’s exactly what works.

The Apartment Experience

Each unit here feels like you’re staying in someone’s well-appointed city flat rather than a typical hotel room. The kitchenette setup is actually functional — I mean, you can genuinely cook a proper meal if you want to, not just heat up leftovers. The space flows nicely between the living area and bedroom, and there’s enough storage that you won’t be living out of your suitcase for the entire stay. What struck me most was how quiet everything stays, even though you’re still connected to the city.

Location and Getting Around

Ossendorf might not be the first neighborhood that comes to mind when you think of Cologne, but that’s actually its strength. You’re about 15 minutes from the cathedral and main shopping areas by public transport, but you get to escape the tourist crowds every evening. The parking situation here is brilliant — free on-site spots, which anyone who’s driven in German cities will tell you is worth its weight in gold. There’s a decent restaurant within walking distance, plus a supermarket that’s handy for stocking up your kitchen.

What Makes It Work

The staff here seem to understand that apartment-style stays require a different approach than traditional hotels. They’re helpful when you need them but don’t hover, which creates this nice balance between independence and support. The Wi-Fi actually works properly throughout the space — something I’ve learned not to take for granted. Couples particularly seem to love this setup, and I can see why; there’s something romantic about having your own little temporary home base rather than just a hotel room with two beds pushed together.

Why Guests Keep Coming Back

Look, the 7.4 rating tells you this isn’t perfect, but it’s solid and reliable in ways that matter for longer stays or when you want more space than a typical hotel offers. The location scores consistently high because once you figure out the neighborhood, you realize you’ve got the best of both worlds — city access without city noise. It’s the kind of place where you can actually unpack, settle in for a few days, and feel like you’re living in Cologne rather than just visiting it. For the price point and the space you get, it honestly delivers exactly what it promises.

Reviews of Nüssenberger Hof Apartments

  • Exceptional – Karolina from Poland – June 28, 2025 (10/10)

    Supercool expierience

  • Poor – Hassan from United Kingdom – January 3, 2025 (3/10)

It’s was close to everywhere it was hot there weren’t any thermostats to control the heat I had to open the window to get rid of heat

What could be improved: I ask for wifii I never got got it there were not washing up powder left when I try to wash some of cloth there weren’t any extra bin bags there weren’t any mob or hover or bruch to clean the floor

  • Worst apartment I have stayed in. Would not book this again. – Stephen from United Kingdom – November 4, 2024 (1/10)

I didn't like anything about the apartment. It was that bad I only stayed one night. It was suppose to be for 4 nights.
The facilities did not work and there was no heating.

The only thing I liked was leaving.

What could be improved: The information emailed to me with the details of the apartment missed off the number of the apartment, consequently I ended up in the wrong room.
The existing oven did not work and you could not switch the oven light off. I had to cover the oven door.
The temporary oven I was given was perched on top of the Microwave and some settings on the oven tripped the breaker in the consumer unit. The room was cold because the heating didn't work so I was given a temporary heater.
There were 3 single beds in the apartment none of them were comfortable and there was no comfortable chairs to sit down in. The bathroom was colder than the main room and it had this stupid heater in it. These apartments are advertised as holiday apartments. There is no way these are holiday apartments.

They need improving and checks should be made to ensure that all the facilities work correctly.

  • Overall, very nice. Super staff support! But could use some bug-nets for the windows :3 – Sarah from Germany – August 25, 2024 (7/10)

The place was cozy and far away from the busy noises of the city. But not too far away from it, since everything was easily accessible via a short 11-minute stroll (small shopping spot with REWE and a Bakery nearby) and the Subway Train, which was driving every 10 minutes.

Enough room for everyone, reasonable prices, two refrigerators, a kitchen, a bathroom, four beds AND a couch to sleep on. We could also have food delivered to our place, which enhanced the comfort. Staff was super friendly and even allowed us entry 2 hours before check-in, since our train arrived early. Free Wi-Fi and a TV. Very nice <3

What could be improved: The place was clearly being renovated, which might change the rating if we decide to take this option next year, again. Some walls were bare or had stains from squished bugs on it (should totally paint those over).

One window couldn't be leaned (might have been broken by a previous tenant, like the cupboard, which we were informed of, however), and there were no bug nets on any, which means that we couldn't leave windows open for long – otherwise we've got frequently visited by bugs, moths, spiders, flies and mosquitos. Something that totally should be added. The bathroom was a bit smaller than expected, but that's more of a nit-pic, I guess.

  • Wonderful, welcoming will be returning – Simom from United Kingdom – July 30, 2024 (10/10)

Our weekend stay at these apartments was great. The location is genuinely beautiful and well worth the very easy tram ride out of central Cologne. Both gentlemen that run the apartments are very welcoming, helpful and full of local knowledge. I recommend talking to them to find out about the history of the area and where to go. The rooms are clean, relaxing and well looked after. The courtyard is inviting and the location is steeped in history. We are planning on returning to stay here due to how welcome we were made to feel. Also the only lime tree in Cologne 🙂 Thanks for helping us have a great time!

What could be improved: Perhaps having adjustable heating or extra blankets for the late part of the evening in the summer would be good as my friend was a little bit cold on the evenings.

  • Great apart from Scotland going out early haha – Stephen from United Kingdom – July 18, 2024 (8/10)

Was perfect for the euros friendly staff good accommodation for me and my 8 friends!

What could be improved: Only issue was my jumper went missing in the wash room

  • it's cheap, but pretty bad. looks nice from outside at least – Tom from Netherlands – May 16, 2024 (5/10)

Garden In front was nice, looks nice from outside, host was nice, beds are nice

What could be improved: The "living room" didn't have a window, just a table and a few chairs. No TV, no couch, nothing. Because it was just four walls the echo in there was horrible, not a place you want to be. was We were lucky the weather was good so we sat outside, even late in the evening.

  • Anonymous from United Kingdom – December 31, 2023 (1/10)

  • Exceptional – Cristina from Romania – October 10, 2023 (10/10)

What could be improved: Housemeister claimed we took portable AC from the room, device which we bought in the summer. This acusation was made after we left, claiming he's got picture before and after. We got back showed the receipt and device and he claimed that maybe the manager made the claim… nuts.

  • The place to go if in KÖLN – Duckworth from United Kingdom – August 22, 2023 (10/10)

    Wonderful and historical
Perfect if you need peace and quiet.
The proprietor was helpful and very accommodating.

What could be improved: Set in a peaceful woods off the main road that makes easy access for us older folk.
Would recommend to all my travel friends.
