You know what caught me off guard about the NH Collection Köln Mediapark? It’s actually got this sleek, almost corporate vibe that somehow manages to feel welcoming once you’re inside. I mean, the location in Mediapark isn’t exactly where you’d expect to find a great hotel – it’s sort of tucked into this modern business district that feels a bit sterile during the day, but honestly, that works in your favor. The area gets surprisingly quiet after office hours, so you’re not dealing with the usual city center chaos.

The building itself is this contemporary glass-and-steel thing that fits right into the media company landscape around it, but step through those doors and there’s actually some real thought put into the design. The lobby’s got these warm wood accents that soften all that modern architecture, and the staff – well, they seem to genuinely know their stuff about Cologne, not just the tourist handbook answers. I had a guy at the front desk tell me about a little brewery just a few trams stops away that I never would’ve found otherwise. Speaking of trams, the Christophstraße/Mediapark stop is literally right there, which makes getting into the Altstadt or over to the cathedral area pretty painless.

What I really appreciated was how quiet the rooms stay, even though you’re essentially in an office park. The windows do their job blocking out any street noise, and the beds are actually comfortable – not just hotel-marketing comfortable, but the kind where you don’t wake up with a crick in your neck. The bathrooms are spacious enough that you’re not bumping your elbows every time you brush your teeth, which sounds silly until you’ve stayed in enough cramped European hotel rooms. There’s decent parking if you’re driving, though honestly, with the tram connection you probably won’t need your car much once you’re settled in. The breakfast setup is solid too – nothing revolutionary, but they’ve got proper coffee and enough variety that you won’t get bored if you’re staying a few days. One small thing that bugged me was the air conditioning took forever to actually cool the room down, but that might’ve just been because I was there during that weird heat wave last summer. Overall though, it’s the kind of place that gets the important stuff right without trying too hard to impress you with gimmicks. For exploring Cologne, you’re well-positioned here – close enough to everything that matters, but far enough from the tourist crowds that you can actually relax when you get back.

  Great location, easy to go to public transport and the city. Rooms were great.
  Parking was easier than expected. Follow the directions and the parking area is directly under the hotel making access quick and easy.

  The room was great as expected. The wifi was good. Just weird that we had to log in every day. Our view looked out over the park and was amazing. The air-conditioning was not the best but it did the job to cool the room down. The service was amazing and the people working there were very kind.

  The location was oke. Pretty calm area but not the closest to all the interesting spots in the city. But it also isnt too far to have it be a struggle.
  
  What could be improved: The water pressure of the rain shower head was too low for my liking. And the temperature of the water was not the most stable with sudden hot or cold steaks.

  Good location, the room was lovely and clean. Friendly staff and comfy bed. Sauna was a nice addition and we had a nice view of the park and tower.

  Fantastic bed, they asked if we like 2 single or one big bed, delicious room service, late check out, amazing hair dryer and good shower gel with green tea smell 🙂 Although very busy. check in was very fast.
  
  What could be improved: Parking is easy but make sure you ask for 2 tickets as the guys downstairs are very rude and if it’s not working you have to drive all the way back. Also shower must have been broken as the water was either too hot or too cold. Windows can’t be open so airco is a must.

  The breakfast was perfect. The location was super. And the staff always friendly. The room was clean.
  I would rechose the hotel if I retravel to Köln. The park near to hotel is super so you could have super park view from your soom.
  
  What could be improved: the hotel gives 1 bottle of water for the first night. If you stay more then one night – you have punishment to choose the hotel do not get the water. But thanks to nice staff ..The room servise they try to minimize everthing they put to room. THe paper towel was finished last night and no extra dush bonnets if you do not ask. But this does not mean bad in a way – so there could be less lastic use. There was no windows so there is always airconditioning which makes your skin dry and lips choped 🙂
