The staff genuinely seems to get that their guests are usually either dealing with trade show exhaustion or heading to some arena event, so they’re pretty accommodating about weird check-in times and luggage situations. Parking is sorted, which honestly saves you a massive headache if you’re driving in Cologne – trust me on this one.

Here’s the thing though – the location is both the biggest selling point and something to be aware of. When there’s a big event at the arena or a major trade fair running, this whole area gets absolutely buzzing. It’s exciting if you’re part of it, but it can get pretty noisy, especially on weekend nights when there’s a concert. The flip side? You’re connected to everything. The Deutz-Kalker Straße S-Bahn station is an easy walk, and from there you can be in the cathedral square in about ten minutes. Plus, there are some surprisingly good restaurants tucked away in this neighborhood – not the touristy stuff you’ll find in Altstadt, but proper local places where you can actually get a decent schnitzel without paying tourist prices.

The 4-star rating feels about right – it’s solidly good without being fancy, and honestly, that 7-out-of-10 guest rating makes sense too. It’s the kind of place that does what it promises well, but it’s not going to blow your mind. I mean, you’re not coming to Deutz for a romantic getaway, you know?   What could be improved: Kleines Bad, schlechtes Licht im Bad. Betten mussten wir zuerst zusammen schieben. Haben ein Doppelbett gebucht. In der Dusche keine Seifenablage.
