Limehome Köln Friesenplatz – Digital Access Overview
So I stayed at this Limehome place on Friesenplatz, and honestly? It’s one of those spots that grows on you. First thing you notice is the whole “digital access” thing isn’t just marketing fluff – you actually do everything through your phone, which felt weird at first but ended up being pretty slick. No awkward small talk at reception, no waiting around with your luggage while someone finds your reservation.
The location is what really makes this place work though. Friesenplatz itself is this lovely little square that most tourists completely miss, but you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Friesenstraße shopping area and maybe ten minutes to get into the old town proper. I mean, you could walk to the cathedral if you wanted, but honestly the tram connections right there are so good you don’t really need to. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel – there’s a great bakery just around the corner on Wilhelmsring that locals actually use, not some tourist trap charging four euros for a pretzel.
The rooms themselves are clean and modern, sort of that minimalist Scandinavian vibe that either works for you or doesn’t. Everything you need is there, but don’t expect any frills. The wifi was solid (I was working remotely for part of my stay), and the shower pressure was actually decent, which you know can be hit or miss in these converted buildings. One thing though – the walls aren’t super thick, so if you’re sensitive to noise, maybe pack earplugs. It’s not terrible, but you’ll definitely hear your neighbors if they’re having a late night. The digital check-in process took some getting used to – I actually had to call their support line the first night because I couldn’t figure out how to adjust the heating, but they walked me through it pretty quickly.
What I really appreciated was how the whole setup lets you come and go without feeling like you’re bothering anyone. You want to grab dinner at 10 PM? Fine. Need to leave super early for a train? No problem. Plus the area around Friesenplatz has this nice mix of actual restaurants where locals eat and a few decent bars that don’t feel touristy. There’s this Turkish place on Neusser Straße that was absolutely fantastic – the kind of spot you’d never find unless you were staying in the neighborhood. The 7.9 rating feels about right to me; it’s not luxury, but it does what it promises to do without any real complaints. For the price point and the independence it gives you, especially if you’re planning to explore Cologne at your own pace rather than following some rigid itinerary, it’s honestly a pretty smart choice.

The suite was very nice with a long balcony and wonderful view of the city. The location is very good.
The staff is also very communicative and helpful.
Room was relatively clean.
What could be improved: There is not 24h serving/housekeeping.
We asked for a baby cot during the day but they couldn't provide for that day (anyway they brought the next day).
The WC door could be another type in order to provide noise and smell.Perfect location. There were a couple of issues that were fixed extremely quickly. Perfect service. – Paul from United Kingdom – June 19, 2025 (9/10)
The location was perfect for our needs. All round good service. Clean and comfortable.
What could be improved: Nothing.Nice and easy stay in a great area of Cologne – Dovselby from Germany – June 17, 2025 (8/10)
Very easy stay. Clean and comfortable in a great area of Cologne.
What could be improved: Would have like to be able to check in earlier than 3pm, as there is no where to leave your bags. You can pay extra to leave bags at a different location. But this was inconvenient compared to a hotel.Great location, comfortable room, instructions need to be improved – Beyza from Turkey – June 11, 2025 (7/10)
Location is great, the room was quite clean and comfortable
What could be improved: You need to ask anything, instructions are not clear enough. Example: breakfast was included in our package but without asking there was no guide that we need to go to coffee in downstairs. Also we had to paid extra 30 euro , I wish if it was mentioned before our stay. But the breakfast was tasty.Very Good – Watrinelle from Luxembourg – June 1, 2025 (8/10)
very good
What could be improved: the door to the bathroom
