Leonardo Hotel Köln Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Leonardo Hotel Köln, you immediately get that “this is going to work out just fine” feeling. It’s one of those four-star places that doesn’t try too hard — the lobby has clean lines and modern touches without being sterile, and the staff actually seems happy to see you. I mean, after a long day of travel through Cologne, that kind of genuine welcome really hits the spot. The whole vibe is professional but relaxed, which honestly sets the tone for everything else.
The Buchforst Advantage
Here’s what I love about staying in Buchforst — you’re close enough to everything that matters in Cologne, but you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos of the city center. The location gets serious praise from guests (they rate it 8.1, which is pretty impressive), and couples especially seem to get it — they’re giving it an 8.4 for romantic trips. You’ve got easy access to public transport, but there’s also parking right at the hotel if you’re driving. That’s actually a big deal in a city like Cologne where finding a decent parking spot can turn into an adventure you didn’t sign up for.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from Leonardo — thoughtfully designed without any unnecessary frills. Everything works the way it should, from the shower pressure to the Wi-Fi, and the beds are genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-brochure comfortable). What struck me was how quiet it was at night, even though you’re still connected to the city. The windows actually block out street noise, which is something I’ve learned not to take for granted when booking urban hotels.
Morning Fuel
The breakfast buffet here deserves a mention — it’s one of those spreads that covers all the bases without overwhelming you with choices. Fresh bread, good coffee, and enough variety that you won’t get bored if you’re staying multiple nights. I noticed they keep everything well-stocked throughout the morning service, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places let things run empty during peak hours. It’s the kind of breakfast that actually sets you up properly for a day of exploring Cologne.
Why Guests Love It
You know what really tells you about a place? The repeat guests, and Leonardo Hotel Köln has more returning visitors than most properties in the area. That’s not an accident — it’s because they’ve figured out how to deliver consistency without being boring. The combination of solid location, reliable service, and that just-right level of comfort creates the kind of experience that makes you think “yeah, I’d stay here again” when you’re packing to leave. For Cologne, where you’ve got plenty of hotel options, that’s saying something.

Location is good for transport to cologne, parking is good. Rooms are a good size and bed is comfortable. Little extras like sweet trolley etc in reception is a lovely idea. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful.
What could be improved: Hotel like a sauna far too hot. Unfortunately staff were a little sparce at breakfast time in the restaurant. Not very informative of what was around, just took room number and no information given. Thought some of the breakfast didn't look appealing. Will say it was unusual as been several times and this was the first occasion it happened. Will still return though. Good value for money.Very Good – Kees from Netherlands – December 1, 2024 (8/10)
Friendly staff, lots of parking space. Room with a view of the Cathedral. The water pressure in the shower was amazing. The Christmas decorations in the lobby.
What could be improved: Showering was difficult without making the whole bathroom wet. The door of the bathroom didn't close properly without making a lot of noise.Very Good – Raja from Germany – November 17, 2024 (8/10)
Great 👍

What could be improved: The toilet at the lobby was not okay. Maybe a bad coinsidence.Clean, comfortable hotel – Sarah from United Kingdom – September 9, 2024 (8/10)
The hotel is modern, clean, and comfortable. The team is friendly, helpful, and speak good English.
It is a little out of the city centre but we knew that before booking.
The centre is a short taxi drive away, or you walk 10 minutes up the road to a train station where you can travel straight to the centre.
There's a little supermarket next door, which is great if you need a few essentials.
What could be improved: We didn't have time to use all the facilities.I really enjoyed my time and my stay at this hotel and I wouldn't mind being a repeat customer – Jerick from Germany – August 27, 2024 (8/10)
How easy it was to check in and out. The breakfast was awesome. The bartender at the bar was awesome!!!! He even served me a double shot of whiskey after closing time
What could be improved: Not their fault but it being on the other side of the Rhine and across from almost every Nightlife points of interest.Very Good – Hanan from Germany – August 27, 2024 (8/10)
The staff was super nice! Amazing service and comfortable stay.
What could be improved: The room does not have a fridge, there are coffee capsules but no milk so if u make an espresso it would taste super bitter.Very understanding and friendly staff – The from United Kingdom – August 20, 2024 (8/10)
