My room was compact but smartly designed — everything had its place, and nothing felt cramped. The bed was surprisingly comfortable for a mid-range hotel, and I actually slept really well despite being on a busy street. What I appreciated most was the attention to details: good lighting for reading, enough outlets near the bed, and a bathroom that didn’t make you do weird contortions to shower. The soundproofing was decent too, though you’ll still hear some street noise if you’re a super light sleeper.

The continental breakfast here is solid — not fancy, but it covers all the basics with good coffee and fresh bread. What’s clever is their breakfast-to-go option, which I used on my last morning when I had an early train. They actually pack it properly, not just toss some pastries in a bag. There’s no on-site restaurant for dinner, but honestly, you don’t need one in this neighborhood. Some of Cologne’s best traditional brewhouses are literally around the corner, and the hotel staff will point you toward places the locals actually go.

  This hotel has a good value for money and the online checkin procedure is very confident. Also the beds are good.
  
  What could be improved: The coffee cups are way too big for the coffee machine. When I made coffee and the machine vibrated the mug fell down full of coffee on my clothes that were laying on the chair. So all my clothes have coffee stains and I had nothing to wear anymore. It's not though trough.
  
  Other than that I don't like that someone was knocking on my door in in the early morning. I opened and he said he's house keeping and checking of people already left the room. This woke me up.
  
  And I don't like the fact that the hotel is trying to manipulate the reviews on booking by giving a reward for a 10 point review. I think this is not right. I understand a reward for a review, but only give a reward if people give an excellent review is manipulation.

  It's a cool and useful concept that not having a reception and doing any kind of information services online. I saw some 50+ aged guests struggling a little bit when checking in and entering the hotel, this concept could not be the best option for them 🙂 I really liked the adjustable transparent window in the bathroom.
  
  What could be improved: It could be better if they put a kettle and some tea or coffee in the rooms.

  Super fast check-in and check-out online, also entrance access online, convenient. Good location, so close to subway and restaurants, can get to Cologne cathedral in 15 minutes.
  Cozy and staff free for the hotel, highly recommended.

  The air conditioning was great and very much appreciated…it was 37° while we stayed in Cologne. Nice spacious room and bathroom. Clean.
  
  What could be improved: A little bit further from the city centre than I should have booked, especially the train station. There were no staff. Had to check my emails and try to find out how to get in. It wouldn't be the best move for someone who has no tech knowledge.

  Room had great air-conditioning. Easy to check in online and we were able to get in our room early.

  quadruple room with bunk beds was great for myself and 3 kids. bathroom was spotless and new. nice area downstairs in lobby for eating takeaway purchased nearby.
  
  What could be improved: staffless checkin was a little lengthy and having to have a code for the outer door (not just key card) was inconvenient sometimes (having to dig up email on phone to find the code).
