Look, I’ll be straight with you about Hotel Innception – it’s one of those places that surprises you in the best way. When I first walked up to 86 Hohenzollernring, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star spot, but this little gem sits right in the heart of Neustadt Nord, and that location alone makes it worth considering. You’re literally a 10-minute walk from the Dom (and trust me, you’ll hear those cathedral bells in the morning, which is actually kind of charming once you get used to it), and the whole Hohenzollernring area has this relaxed, lived-in vibe that feels authentically Cologne rather than touristy.

What really got me was how the staff seemed to actually care about getting things right. Check-in was smooth – no weird hidden fees or surprise charges that some hotels love to spring on you. The rooms are clean and well-maintained, though honestly, don’t expect luxury finishes at this price point. But here’s the thing: everything works properly, the beds are comfortable enough that I actually slept well, and there’s decent Wi-Fi throughout (which, let’s face it, is sometimes a gamble in older European hotels). The bathrooms are compact but functional, and I appreciated that they keep them properly stocked with towels and toiletries. You know what I mean – those little details that show someone’s paying attention.

The neighborhood is where this place really shines though. Neustadt Nord isn’t flashy, but it’s got character. There’s a great bakery just around the corner on Neusser Straße where locals actually go for their morning coffee, and you’re close enough to walk to the museum quarter without dealing with the crowds right around the cathedral. Plus – and this is huge if you’re driving – parking isn’t the nightmare it is closer to the old town. I mean, it’s still city parking, but at least you’ve got options. The 7.9 rating makes sense to me because while it’s not going to blow you away with fancy amenities, it delivers on the basics really well. The place feels well-run, the location gives you easy access to both the tourist stuff and actual Cologne life, and honestly, for the price point, you’re getting solid value. It’s the kind of hotel where you’ll sleep comfortably, start your day with a decent breakfast, and spend your time exploring the city rather than hanging around the lobby – which is exactly what you want in Cologne anyway.

  What could be improved: It's super noisy, which isn't its fault, it's the location. I had to shut the window, but there's no air con so its really hot. But I read all the reviews and saw that this is just part of the deal with this place, so no worries.

  Fantastic location. The staff were lovely – they even upgraded our room for free. The room was spacious and clean, and it was well equipped with a kettle, tea, coffee, water, and a fan. We had some minor issues with the hot water, but the staff were very attentive and did their best to help us sort it out. Due to its central location, some may find it a bit noisy at night if the room faces the street, but we didn’t have any problems with it when the windows were closed.

  Nice clean room with a modern bathroom and comfortable bed. Also great location without being noisy from the restaurants and bars nearby. The staff were also friendly and it was great to check out at 12!!

  We stayed one night and were warmly welcomed by the friendly front desk staff. After mentioning we were in town for a wedding, we were offered early check-in and a complimentary room upgrade—such a lovely gesture!
  
  The hotel is super central, with lots going on outside at night. It can be a bit lively, but once the windows are closed, it’s completely quiet. The bed was large and very comfortable, and there are parking garages just around the corner. Would definitely stay again!

  The location was right in the city center, the bed was confortable and the staff was ok.
  
  What could be improved: I really wanted to give a bigger grade like an 8 or 9. But the fact that i didnt have hot/warm water and the radiator was not working was a big problem for me. I think one of the most important things for an acommodation is to have proper temperature in the room and for the water. Maybe i will give the hotel a second chance in the future because this was the only problem that occurred
