Here’s the thing about staying in Weiden — you’re not right in the tourist chaos, but you’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere either. The hotel’s location gets an 8.2 rating from guests, and I can see why. You’ve got easy access to the city center without paying those downtown prices, and honestly, the neighborhood feels more like real Cologne. There’s free private parking right at the hotel, which is basically gold if you’re driving in Germany. I mean, try finding that in the Altstadt without paying through the nose. The convenience factor here is genuinely impressive.

The Room Experience

My room was clean and functional — nothing fancy, but everything worked properly. The bed was actually comfortable, and the bathroom was recently updated with modern fixtures. What I appreciated most was the attention to small details — good lighting for reading, enough outlets for your devices, and windows that actually opened for fresh air. The soundproofing was decent too, though you might catch some street noise if you’re a really light sleeper. Overall, the accommodations exceeded my expectations for a three-star property.

Food Worth Talking About

Now this is where Hotel Germania really surprised me. The restaurant here gets rave reviews, and after eating there twice, I totally get it. The breakfast spread was solid — proper German bread, good coffee, and fresh options that weren’t just the usual hotel buffet suspects. For dinner, they do this great mix of regional German dishes and international options. The schnitzel was honestly better than what I had at some fancier places in the city center, and the prices were completely reasonable. The culinary experience here is genuinely outstanding.

  Property was nice, room was good, bathroom & toilet was little to small but functional.
  
  What could be improved: We arrived at the property at 3:15, only to find the main door leading to the reception closed. After calling the provided phone number, the receptionist informed us that they were on an unannounced break and asked us to return in an hour and a half. Since it was a rainy day, we had no choice but to wait at a nearby shopping mall, completely soaked.

  Parking was easy. Easily accessible from the nearby Autobahn. Facilities were mostly good. Good budget option.
  
  What could be improved: I found the bed a little hard. Bathroom door physically is incapably of closing due to being installed incorrectly (as a solo traveller this didn’t really affect me). Location is quite far from the city centre.

  A hotel close to a main road but surprisingly quiet, a bit of a distance to the centre but very well connected by tram or local train. Tasteful interior and clean. Friendly staff. (I did not have breakfast so cannot comment).
