Haus Enteresan Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Haus Enteresan on Frankenwerft, you immediately get why couples are so smitten with this place — honestly, the location is just ridiculous in the best way possible. This four-star property sits right along the Rhine promenade in Cologne‘s Altstadt-Nord, and I mean literally in the heart of everything that matters. The building itself has this understated charm that doesn’t scream for attention, but once you’re inside, you realize there’s something special happening here.
The Perfect Spot
You know what struck me most? It’s not just that you’re central — it’s that you’re central to the *right* things. The cathedral is practically next door (we’re talking a two-minute stroll), and the old town’s cobblestone streets spread out around you like you’re at the center of some medieval map. But here’s the thing couples especially love — you can walk along the Rhine in the evening, grab dinner at one of those riverside spots, and be back in your room before you know it. The location score of 9.6 isn’t just numbers on a screen; it actually makes sense when you’re there.
The Room Experience
The rooms themselves are what I’d call thoughtfully comfortable — nothing flashy, but everything works exactly as it should. You get decent space (not cramped like some city hotels), and the windows actually open, which is surprisingly refreshing. The bathrooms are modern without being sterile, and honestly, after walking around Cologne all day, you’ll appreciate having a proper place to unwind. The beds are solid too — I slept well, which isn’t always a given in historic city centers where noise can be an issue.
Getting Around
Here’s something practical that matters — you really don’t need to worry about parking or public transport much because everything’s walkable. The main shopping street (Schildergasse) is right there, the museum quarter is close enough for an afternoon wander, and if you want to hop on the Rhine for a boat trip, well, you’re already at the water. I actually found myself using the hotel as a base camp more than anything else, dropping off shopping bags or regrouping between activities.
Why Guests Love It
That 9.7 rating from couples isn’t just about romance — though there’s definitely something romantic about being steps from the cathedral and the river. It’s more about how the location lets you experience Cologne naturally, without feeling like you’re constantly commuting to see things. You wake up, step outside, and you’re immediately part of the city’s rhythm. The staff gets this too — they’re helpful without being pushy, and they clearly understand that most guests are here to explore, not hang around the lobby. For a four-star in this location, the value proposition actually makes sense, especially if you’re the type who’d rather spend money on experiences than hotel amenities you won’t use.

Reviews of Haus Enteresan
It was a fantastic stay, great location, on the Rhein, old picturesque buildings and on top of an ice cream shop. – Douglas from South Africa – August 4, 2025 (9/10)
It was a fantastic location.
What could be improved: Access for big bags and strollers. But worth it for the location and type of house.Conveniently located, great breakfast, good value for money. – Andrii from United Kingdom – August 2, 2025 (9/10)
Location of the place is really good both for the station and promenade, and team was super helpful, and showed us to apartment, which was very handy under the rain. Breakfast was great as well.
Great location, good price. – Milos from Serbia – June 22, 2025 (7/10)
Location is perfect. Room "Double Room with Street View" was not in front of the river, but in second quiet street behind. Very big Studio with two large double beds, with kitchen and clean toilet. Breakfast good, not very good. WiFi ok. The staff is very friendly and late check-in is possible until 11pm.
What could be improved: The TV programs didn't work. The bedding was dark gray, not white or a lighter color, so we can only trust that it was clean.Wonderful – Jan from Netherlands – May 29, 2025 (9/10)
Location is fantastic! Right in the heart of the city at the Rhine river.
A small guesthouse in a classic building right by the river – Adam from Poland – May 19, 2025 (9/10)
A nice small guesthouse with a cafe on the ground floor. You can get in and out quickly via a wooden staircase. The building has its charm, and the rooms are quite big. Very good view of the river. Ideal for a short stay. The hosts were really friendly – earlier breakfast was not an issue, even 3 times in a row 🙂
What could be improved: The bathroom is a bit sketchy. It could be renovated. But no one should complain at this price point.A bit small but very clean and a good location – James from United Kingdom – March 28, 2025 (8/10)
Location and very clean
What could be improved: The pillows were very bad. A bit small. The photos made it look much bigger.Very Good – Kemal from United Kingdom – January 6, 2025 (8/10)
The location and the breakfast were fantastic.
Quiet apartment close to the Christmas Market – Mark from United Kingdom – December 5, 2024 (9/10)
Although the listing is for a small house on the Rheinside over a café, we were housed in a large studio apartment about 100m closer to the city centre. This worked really well for us. The breakfast selection was one of the best I have ever had in Germany, and was served each morning in the café.
What could be improved: Had to go shopping to grab a few essentials such as tea, milk and sugar, but that was really the only mildly negative issue.Wonderful – Karena from Malaysia – November 23, 2024 (9/10)
Very good location. Walking distance to everything we needed for a short stay in Cologne. Room is clean, right beside the river.
What could be improved: Stairs up to the room are narrow. Not a problem for us, but do take note, if carrying big bags.Wonderful – 2boys from Netherlands – October 21, 2024 (9/10)
The location is perfect, next to the Rhein and in the old town. The apartment is clean and fully equipped. The breakfast was sufficiently well. Paid parking (CONTIPARK Tiefgarage Heumarkt) is 250m away, very closeby, about 30 euro per day. There are cheaper ones around, we try to walk as little as possible.
What could be improved: I dont know any.
