The apartment sits on the third floor of this quiet residential building on Overbeckstraße in Neuehrenfeld, which I’ll admit I’d never heard of before booking. But you know what? That worked in my favor. It’s far enough from the touristy chaos around the cathedral and old town that you can actually sleep at night, but close enough that a quick U-Bahn ride gets you anywhere you need to go. The Ehrenfeld stop is maybe a seven-minute walk – I timed it because I’m neurotic about missing trains. What really sold me was the free parking situation. I mean, finding free parking in any German city is like winning a small lottery, and here it just comes with the room. No fighting for street spots or feeding meters every two hours.

The space itself feels properly lived-in rather than sterile hotel-modern, if that makes sense. The kitchen actually has everything you need – not just a sad mini-fridge and a broken coffee maker like some places. I ended up cooking dinner a couple nights because the local Turkish place downstairs (Pro tip: their döner is ridiculous) wasn’t always open when I got back from the Messe. The WiFi is genuinely fast, which matters when you’re trying to upload presentation files at 11 PM. The balkon overlooks the courtyard, so it’s quiet but not depressing – you get morning light without street noise. Four people could definitely sleep here comfortably, though it might get a bit cozy if everyone’s trying to get ready at the same time. There’s something refreshingly honest about how they’ve set it up – nothing fancy, but everything works exactly as advertised.

What I really appreciated was how straightforward everything was. No fussy check-in procedures or weird house rules posted everywhere. Just clean, functional space in a neighborhood where actual Cologne residents live. You’ll walk past bakeries where they speak more Turkish than German, little corner bars that smell like decades of cigarette smoke (in the best way), and apartment buildings where people actually hang laundry on their balconies. It feels real, you know? The 9.2 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be something it isn’t, just doing the basics really well. If you need to be walking distance from every major tourist attraction, this isn’t your spot. But if you want a proper home base that doesn’t cost a fortune and gives you a glimpse of how regular people live in Cologne, honestly, you could do a lot worse than this place.

  In der Unterkunft war alles vorhanden, was ich als Selbstversorger brauchte und war gut eingerichtet. Nette Wohngegend. Die nächste U/Straßenbahnstation in Richtung Zentrum ist ca. 10 Gehminuten entfernt, die Fahrt ins Zentrum dauert ca. 10 Minuten.

  Die Wohnung ist sehr gut mit Bus und Bahn zu erreichen. Ich habe während meines Aufenthalts immer den Bahnhof Köln-Ehrenfeld genommen, von dem man u.a. den Hauptbahnhof/Dom in 2-4 Minuten erreicht. Die Wohnung liegt in einem sehr ruhigen Haus, ist schön geschnitten, unfassbar hell und auf jeden Fall mit allem ausgestattet was man braucht, um eine gute Zeit zu haben. Wenn ich mal wieder in Köln bin und diese Unterkunft verfügbar ist, werde ich hier auf jeden Fall wieder einchecken.

  L'appartement est spacieux (une chambre, une salon, une cuisine, séparés). Il est lumineux. Il donne sur une rue calme et arborée et, à l'arrière, sur un petit parc au milieu d'un ilot d'immeubles. L'ameublement est moderne et standard. La propreté est impeccable. Le tram pour se rendre au centre ville est à 5 minutes à pied. Je n'ai pas eu de contact en vrai avec les hôtes, mais ils étaient disponibles pour être contactés en cas de problème.

  Die Unterkunft war super von der Lage. Die Einrichtung der Wohnung ist super und es ist alles da was man braucht. Das Auto kann kostenlos vor dem Haus geparkt werden. Die S-Bahn Haltestelle ist auch nicht weit entfernt. Würden diese Wohnung immer wieder buchen.

  Die Wohnung ist komfortabel ausgestattet und geschmackvoll eingerichtet und vergleichsweise ruhig (für Großstadtverhältnisse). Es fehlte an nichts und man merkt, dass es die Vermieter einem nett machen möchten. Das Bett war sehr bequem. Die gegenüberliegende Schule empfand ich nicht als störend. Zur U-Bahn waren es 5 Minuten zu Fuß. An der U-Bahn Station findet sich auch ein Supermarkt. Die erhaltenen Informationen waren sehr hilfreich und die darin vorgeschlagenen Restaurants sind eine Empfehlung wert. Ansonsten gibt es auch genügend weitere Kneipen. Gerne wieder!!
  
  What could be improved: Man muss ein paar Runden mit dem Auto um den Block fahren und hoffen, dass ein Parkplatz frei wird. Dann am besten das Auto für die Dauer des Aufenthalts nicht mehr bewegen. Sonst geht das gleiche wieder von vorne los. Dank des guten Öfi-Netzes auch alles super mit der U-Bahn zu machen.
