But here’s what the guidebooks don’t tell you: the area around Graeffstraße specifically is just residential enough that it’s quiet at night, but close enough to Venloer Straße that you can grab dinner or drinks without planning your whole evening around it. I stumbled into this Turkish place called Özkan just around the corner that had better food than half the restaurants in the Altstadt, and it was packed with locals – always a good sign. The street itself gets a bit of traffic during rush hour, but nothing that kept me awake. Actually, I found the gentle hum kind of soothing after a while.
