This four-star property completely changed my mind the moment I stepped into that penthouse lobby. There’s something about being on the top floor that immediately makes you feel like you’ve scored something special — and the views over Cologne through those floor-to-ceiling windows definitely don’t hurt.

Here’s what I love about this location — you’re right on Kaiser-Wilhelm-Ring, which means you’re basically in the sweet spot of Cologne’s most happening neighborhood. Neustadt Nord isn’t touristy in that overwhelming way, but it’s got this perfect mix of local cafes, wine bars, and those little shops that locals actually use. I mean, you can walk to the old town in about fifteen minutes, but you’re staying somewhere that feels authentically Cologne. The location score of 9.1 makes total sense when you realize you’re getting the best of both worlds.

The Room Experience

The room itself surprised me — it’s got this modern, minimalist thing going on without feeling cold or sterile. What really got me was the attention to detail; the lighting actually works for reading (you’d be amazed how many hotels mess this up), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase. The penthouse location means most rooms have these great city views, and honestly, watching Cologne wake up in the morning with a coffee became my little daily ritual.

I can totally see why couples rate this place so highly for romantic getaways. It’s not trying too hard to be romantic with cheesy decorations or whatever — instead, it’s got this sophisticated, intimate vibe that just works. The neighborhood has plenty of those cozy wine bars where you can actually have a conversation, and being able to come back to a stylish, quiet space after exploring the city feels pretty perfect. Plus, there’s something undeniably romantic about those city views, especially when the cathedral lights up at night.

  Die Vermieterin ist sehr Nett und erklärt alles, sofern gefragt wird.
  Die Aussicht war schön.
  Wohnung ist relativ schön eingerichtet und groß.

  Boden sehr dreckig.
  Föhn ist kaputt. (Heizspiralen)
  In der Duschkabine ist die Gummidichtung (der Türen) undicht an den Ecken lief das Wasser raus.
  Die Fernbedienung des Receiver ist kaputt (Abdeckung der Batterie)
  Ein paar Lichter und Lichtschalter funktionierten nicht.
  Die Betten sind durch! Könnten mal neu!

  What could be improved: Wi-fi wasn’t amazing but did not cause an issue. Please note that the third bedroom is in the middle of two bedrooms so you need to walk through someone else’s bedroom to get to a bathroom or living space.

  What could be improved: Horrible comunicación. Mensajes de empresa, copia-pega para cualquier pregunta. No contestaciones concretas, y eso cuando se dignaban contestar.
  Horrible la persona que vino a darnos las llaves. Muy muy borde. Encima quería echarnos la culpa de que no le habíamos avisado de la hora exacta de nuestra llegada. Se lo llevaba diciendo un mes. Se retraso una hora el avión y eso hizo que llegáramos más tarde. Nos mandó un mensaje amenazante diciendo que se iba y no volvía.
  Muy caro. El apartamento no se siente hogareño.
  20 minutos andando a la Catedral y estación.

  What could be improved: Vermieterin war unter der angegebenen Telefonnummer sehr schlecht zu erreichen… Der Fahrstuhl war bei der Anreise defekt (laut einiger Mieteraussagen passiert das wohl ständig). Wir mussten mit schwerem Gepäck ins Dachgeschoss (es waren 7 Etagen) hochlaufen. Die Wohnung ist wunderschön gelegen, jedoch sehr in die Jahre gekommen.
