CITYPERLE – Ruhiges Komfort Apartment Nähe DOM – Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first saw “CITYPERLE” on Bonner Straße, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from the name. But you know what? This little apartment hotel actually surprised me in the best way. It sits in Neustadt-Süd, which is one of those Cologne neighborhoods that feels authentically local without being boring. The whole “near the DOM” thing in the name isn’t just marketing fluff either – you’re genuinely close enough to walk to the cathedral without your feet hating you afterward, but far enough south that you escape most of the tourist chaos.

What really struck me about this place was how quiet it actually gets at night. Bonner Straße has some foot traffic during the day (it’s a proper neighborhood street with actual residents), but once evening hits, it settles into this peaceful rhythm that’s honestly rare for a city center location. The apartments themselves have that modern German efficiency thing going on – everything works exactly as it should, the heating responds quickly, and the kitchenettes are compact but thoughtfully laid out. I mean, you’re not going to cook a five-course meal, but you can definitely handle breakfast and simple dinners without feeling cramped. The beds are proper comfortable too, which… well, let’s just say that’s not always a given with apartment hotels.

Here’s something I really appreciated – the whole check-in process was refreshingly straightforward. No hovering lobby staff or complicated key card systems that stop working the moment you look at them sideways. And parking, if you’re driving, isn’t the nightmare it could be. There are street spots that locals know about, plus a few paid lots within reasonable walking distance. The 7.6 rating makes sense to me; it’s not luxury, but it’s solid and reliable with genuine comfort. You’re also perfectly positioned to explore beyond just the obvious tourist spots – Severinsviertel is a short walk south with its cozy bars and restaurants that actually cater to locals, and the Rhine promenade is close enough for morning jogs or evening strolls. Honestly, for the price point and the neighborhood, CITYPERLE delivers exactly what it promises: a comfortable base that lets you experience Cologne like someone who actually lives here, rather than just passing through.

To book a hotel in Cologne during major art fair events, travelers need early planning as this cultural hub draws visitors eager to experience its magnificent cathedral and world-class museums.

Reviews of CITYPERLE – Ruhiges Komfort Apartment Nähe DOM –

  • Good – Rahul from Belgium – August 3, 2025 (7/10)

    Cleaning, Staff, Bed etc

What could be improved: Location , no view

  • Overall good! Need a new mattress – Gustavo from United States – April 14, 2025 (7/10)

Overall good, it was my second year staying there.
The mattress needs to be changed.
They have an water infiltration on the restroom where the tiles are coming up and might have mold because my allergies were real bad in the apartment.
The place has a great location and it was really and funcional!

  • Good weekend! – Srishti from India – December 15, 2024 (8/10)

location and space of the room

What could be improved: The 2nd bed was bit smaller and pillows slightly uncomfortable

  • Nice apartment centrally located in Cologne – Ignacio from Spain – September 12, 2024 (9/10)

The apartment had a fantastic location close to the Cathedral and colorful streets with plenty of dining options nearby. The well-stocked REWE supermarket across the street was convenient, and the kitchen was spacious and equipped for meal preparation. I also appreciated the little extras like coffee and basic supplies, and even found the sofa bed comfortable. The large shower in the bathroom was another positive aspect.

What could be improved: As mentioned in other reviews, the smell from the dumpsters below the windows can be unpleasant, especially in the summer. While it's understandable that trash can smell in warm weather, the attitude of the property manager toward critical reviews could be more proactive and constructive and a bit less defensive.

Additionally, the rooms tend to get quite warm during the summer. I was able to borrow a fan from the cleaning crew, but it would be a great improvement to have one or two fans available in each apartment, particularly during hot weather. It's a small investment that would enhance the comfort of guests and improve the property's overall appeal.

  • Very good stay, lovely apartment in a great location with a responsive host. – Ashley from United Kingdom – June 28, 2024 (9/10)

Property is in a really good location with easy transport links everywhere and 30 mins from the centre of Cologne. Room is as described and had everything we needed for our 8 day stay. Host communicates well and efficiently.

  • Great for short term stays for two people – Damjan from Slovenia – June 28, 2024 (9/10)

Really nice ambient, clean, good location.

What could be improved: Beds way too small and not comfortable. 180 cm in length?? For 2 persons yes, if you are skin and short… couch in the living room is not for two. Too small. There is not such a big investment for nicer bed and couch and it would make a big difference. After all we go there to sleep.

  • Nice place to stay – Maksym from Ukraine – May 16, 2024 (8/10)

Bright big studio with kitchen and big bathroom, I stayed alone, but it felt like there was enough space for 3 people. It was quiet neighbourhood and heating worked well (those days was really cold outside).
There is grocery store, coffee shop and restaurant just 1 min away.
Was convenient to get there from central station.

What could be improved: The only thing I would like to mention negative is communication with property.
In the end of the stay they suddenly sent a message where they warn not to write bad review, they said it is forbidden by German legislation… Do not tell people what to write!

  • The stay was comfortable, the apartment was clean but just that the way to the apartment was a bit narrow and past garba – Anand from Germany – April 9, 2024 (8/10)

    Central location, clean and spacious.

What could be improved: The way leading to the property is via a long, narrow and dark corridor and past smelly garbage cans. Narrow stair case and no lift so carrying suitcases was a bit of trouble.

  • Not bad – Terese from Ireland – January 6, 2024 (8/10)

    Xdhtgh,nvc

What could be improved: Add scgfvbnbm

  • Cozy flat in Chlowigplatz – Camille from Italy – October 1, 2023 (8/10)

Very comfortable and cosy flat, well equipped, in the nice neighborhood of Chlowigplatz.
