Arthouse Apartments im Belgischen Viertel Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Arthouse Apartments im Belgischen Viertel, you immediately get that this isn’t your typical hotel experience. The building sits right in the heart of Cologne‘s trendy Belgian Quarter, and honestly, the neighborhood feels more like a local secret than a tourist destination. I mean, you’re surrounded by independent galleries, quirky cafes, and vintage shops that locals actually frequent — not the kind of sanitized tourist bubble you sometimes get stuck in.
The Neighborhood Advantage
The Belgian Quarter is where Cologne gets interesting, and this four-star property puts you right in the thick of it. You’re about a 10-minute walk from the main shopping street, but here’s the thing — you won’t want to leave this area. The streets around Bismarckstrasse are lined with art studios and small boutiques that change regularly. There’s this great little bakery two blocks down that does incredible sourdough (locals queue up every Saturday morning), and you know what? The couples who stay here seem to figure this out pretty quickly — they rated the location 8.4, which honestly makes sense once you spend a day wandering around.
The Space Itself
These aren’t traditional hotel rooms — they’re proper apartment with character. Each apartment feels like someone’s carefully curated home, with original artwork on the walls and furniture that actually looks lived-in rather than hotel-generic. The kitchen setup is surprisingly well-equipped; I’m talking proper cookware and appliances, not the usual token mini-fridge situation. You could actually cook a decent meal here, though with all the restaurants nearby, you might not want to.
What Sets It Apart
The “arthouse” name isn’t just marketing fluff — there’s genuine attention to design details throughout the building. Each unit feels different, with local artists’ work featured prominently. The building itself has this great industrial-meets-residential vibe that fits perfectly with the neighborhood’s aesthetic. Parking can be a bit tricky in this area (it’s a popular district, after all), but the property manages to sort that out better than most places around here. The staff actually knows the neighborhood well — they’ll point you toward the good coffee spots and warn you which streets get busy on weekend evenings.
Why Guests Love It
Recent guests consistently rate the location highly (8.3), and after staying here, it’s obvious why. You’re getting that rare combination of being central without feeling like you’re in the middle of a tourist circus. The apartments give you space to spread out and live a bit like a local, while still having the backup of hotel-style service when you need it. It’s particularly great for couples who want to explore Cologne at their own pace — you can duck back to your place between sightseeing, grab a coffee from your own kitchenette, and head out again without the pressure of hotel checkout times hanging over you.

Reviews of Arthouse Apartments im Belgischen Viertel
Very good host and instruction. – Schill from Germany – December 23, 2024 (7/10)
It was exactly as advertisement said. Very close to restaurants and bars.
What could be improved: Noise from the pubs clubs on street was very loud.Impossible to rest when trying to sleep above a nightclub. – Mrs from Ireland – December 16, 2024 (3/10)
Apartment was at walking distance to main Colgne attractions. Restaurants, parks, coffee was easy to find.
What could be improved: Apartment is located above a bar and nightclub, the noise is unmanageable at night, and continues until 4am. I would not stay there again and regretted my decision. Unfortunately it was all already paid.Wonderful – Catalina from Romania – January 6, 2024 (9/10)
Location is amazing, the neighborhood was amazing, full of super nice shops and cafe s, the apartment was really nice and spacious, easy check in and out, found a parking close by, 50 euros for 3 days
What could be improved: Music from the club below is loud so be prepared to stay up till 4-5,but if you have noise cancellation headphone you can sleep with no problem
Texted the owner before arriving, i asked a question, never got a response 🙁Good location, nice room – Louisa from United Kingdom – August 26, 2023 (6/10)
Nice big rooms, clean and bright
What could be improved: Bit dated. Entrance and stairwell tricky to navigate with a big case. Door lock difficult to open. Smelt a bit funny. No facility to leave bags at location although early check-in was available.Excellent location, great value, – Nira from Israel – June 22, 2023 (9/10)
The space is large, there is much light and air. The kitchen is well equipped and cozy. The sofa bed turned easily into a sleeping bed for a single person. There was a washing machine in the apartment that makes it a perfect place for a longer stay.
What could be improved: There is much noise coming from the bar downstairs, especially during weekend nights. it stops around 1 am.Good – Dávid from Hungary – May 22, 2023 (7/10)
The apartment was clean and comfortable.
What could be improved: The pub in the building was extremely noisy at nights.Nice Apartment – Arvind from India – January 30, 2023 (8/10)
Nice and clean apartment
What could be improved: Price could have been lowerThe night was a nightmare – Ares from Spain – January 8, 2023 (1/10)
What could be improved: The experience in this apartment was terrible. We were expecting a relaxed week-end away with my partner, and although the apartment is nice, the night there was a nightmare. There is a bar/disco located right below the apartment, which played techno music until 5:10am in the morning. The music was very loud and we could not sleep at all. We had to look for another apartment for the second night, and the host did not reply to any of our calls nor helped us in any way. Would not recommended it at all.
Very Good – Nikita from United Kingdom – November 4, 2022 (8/10)
really good location, everything you need for a weekend break
Fair – Nguyen from Vietnam – October 28, 2022 (5/10)
Quite clean and convenient to go to supermarkets
What could be improved: Wifi connection is weak.
stover to cook is very weak and slow.
Heating machines can’t be active.
