You know what struck me first about Apartment11 Thüringer? It’s tucked into this quietly residential stretch of Nippes that feels authentically Cologne – none of that touristy polish you get closer to the Dom. The building itself has that solid German apartment block vibe, and honestly, that’s exactly what you want here because it means thick walls and neighbors who actually live there, not just party through the weekend.

The apartments themselves are surprisingly spacious for what you’d expect in Cologne (anyone who’s apartment hunted here knows what I mean about cramped spaces). They’ve got this modern-meets-practical thing going on – clean lines, decent kitchen setups, and bathrooms that don’t make you feel like you’re showering in a closet. What I really appreciated was how they didn’t go overboard trying to be trendy… it’s just comfortable and functional, which is exactly what you need after spending days wandering around the city. The 8.9 rating makes sense once you’re actually staying there – it’s those little details like having proper hangers in the closet and decent wifi that don’t sound exciting but make all the difference.

Location-wise, well, Nippes isn’t where most tourists end up, but that’s actually the point. You’re about a 15-minute tram ride from the center, which means you can duck back to your place without dealing with Altstadt crowds and prices. There’s this great little Turkish bakery just down Thüringerstraße that locals line up at every morning – I mean, when you see German office workers queuing for bread, you know it’s good. The U-Bahn connections are solid too; you can get to the main station or the cathedral without any fuss. Parking can be a bit of a hunt on the street (typical for any decent Cologne neighborhood), but it’s not impossible if you’re patient. What I loved most was coming back in the evenings when the neighborhood settles into this quiet residential rhythm – kids playing in the courtyards, people walking their dogs, that sort of thing. It gives you a real sense of what living in Cologne actually feels like, not just visiting it. The four-star rating feels about right – it’s not trying to be luxurious, but everything works properly and there’s genuine attention to detail in how the space is set up.

  The apartment is in a good location in a quiet area of Cologne with lots of amenities (Restaurants, supermarkets and transport options) nearby. The apartment had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. The communication from the owners was good.

  The apartment is a lovely studio located in the neighborhood of Nippes, in the North of Köln. It is a big studio and it is evident the care and attention to details of the hosts, we loved every detail of the room and it was perfectly clean. The kitchen has everything you need and also the bathroom is small but extremely functional. I actually said I could live in a studio like this, it has everything you need to feel at home 🙂
  The location is a 35 minutes walk to the centre, otherwise it is extremely close to public transport, trams (3 minutes) buses and S-trains (12 minutes).
  We also appreciated the tourist guide that the hosts left in the room, we found info on tickets for public transport, a nice spot for breakfast in the neighborhood and also an amazing restaurant.
  I will certainly come back if I'm in Köln again!!
  
  What could be improved: I loved it 🙂 one tiny detail are the curtains, something to consider if you like to sleep in total dark (that wouldn't be possible in the studio)

  A lovely host who came and met me immediately to show me laundry facilities. A lovely location about 35 mins walk from Central Cologne Station
  
  What could be improved: Whilst ok for me any elderly or people who struggle with stairs need to be aware no lift. The laundry facilties are not in the flat but the basement so if you needed to use the facilties it's 4 flights of stairs.
