You know what struck me first about Apartment Weinsberg? It’s tucked right into this really lived-in stretch of Melatengürtel where you’ve got actual Cologne life happening around you – not the touristy stuff, but like, people walking their dogs and grabbing groceries at the little Turkish market next door. Ehrenfeld has this cool energy that’s hard to fake, and honestly, staying here made me feel less like a tourist and more like I was just crashing at a friend’s place for a few days.

The building itself is pretty straightforward – I mean, it’s not going to win any architecture awards, but there’s something refreshingly honest about it. The apartments (and yeah, they really are more like small apartments than hotel rooms) have this practical German efficiency thing going on that I actually loved. My unit had a tiny kitchenette that was surprisingly well-equipped – I ended up making coffee there every morning instead of hunting for cafés, which saved me both time and euros. The bathroom was small but everything worked properly, and the shower had decent water pressure, which honestly matters more than fancy toiletries when you’ve been walking around Cologne all day. One thing though – the walls aren’t super thick, so if you’re a light sleeper, maybe pack some earplugs. I could hear my neighbors coming and going, but it wasn’t terrible, just… noticeable.

What really sold me on this place was how easy it made everything else. You’re maybe a twelve-minute walk to the Ehrenfeld S-Bahn station, which gets you to the cathedral and all that central Cologne stuff in no time. But more importantly – and this is something you won’t realize until you’re there – you’re in this pocket of the city where you can actually live like a local for a bit. There’s a great little bakery called Kamps about three blocks down where I grabbed pastries most mornings, and this Turkish restaurant (I think it’s called Bodrum?) that does incredible döner kebabs for like four euros. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after 10 PM, which I appreciated after long days of sightseeing. Parking was actually manageable too – street parking right outside, and I never had trouble finding a spot, even on weekends. For a three-star place with an 8.2 rating, it delivers exactly what you’d hope for: clean, functional, well-located, and priced fairly. It’s not fancy, but it’s genuine, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want when you’re trying to actually experience a city instead of just checking boxes on a tourist itinerary.

  Die Einzelbetten sind riesig!
  Die Bäckerei ca. 150m links vom Apartment weg ist absolut ein Traum und sehr Preiswert!
  
  What could be improved: Das Schlafsofa ist etwas hart und man bekommt viel mit von der Straße und vom Gehweg. Aber hat für uns trozdem sehr gut gepasst!

  Die Verbindung zu den öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel war super, man war sehr schnell direkt überall wo man hin wollte. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten waren auch genügend in der Nähe. Es war sauber und ordentlich. Die Kontaktlose Übergabe der Schlüssel hat einwandfrei geklappt.
  
  What could be improved: Der Bewegungssensor im Flur war sehr gewöhnungsbedürftig und die Stehlampe im Wohnzimmer hat brummende Geräusche bei Gebrauch der Lampe gemacht.

  Kaum ausgehalten aber, weil Arbeiten müssen geblieben. Kein andere Unterkunft frei bekommen. Ich habe alles unternommen um nicht in dieser Unterkunft bleiben zu müssen. Leider ohne Erfolg.
  
  What could be improved: Badezimmer war verstopft Wasser lief nicht ab, wir mussten Abflussfrei kaufen um überhaupt ohne Wasser bis zum Knöchel duschen zu können. Und alles andere war eher nix für uns.
