25hours Hotel The Circle Overview
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from another boutique hotel in Cologne, but 25hours Hotel The Circle actually caught me off guard in the best way. It’s tucked into this quiet courtyard area called Im Klapperhof in the Altstadt-Nord – honestly, if you didn’t know it was there, you’d probably walk right past it. Which is sort of perfect, because it means you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos that hits some of the more obvious spots.
The whole place has this quirky, almost circus-themed vibe that could’ve been cheesy but somehow works. I mean, they’ve got vintage carnival posters and these red velvet touches everywhere, but it feels more like staying at an eccentric friend’s place than some corporate designer’s fever dream. The rooms are surprisingly spacious for a European hotel – you can actually open your suitcase without doing yoga moves around the bed. What really got me was the attention to little things: proper blackout curtains (thank god), a rain shower that actually has decent pressure, and – this might sound weird – but the hangers are the good kind that don’t make you want to throw them out the window.
Location-wise, you’re maybe a ten-minute walk to the Dom, but here’s the thing locals know – you’re also super close to the Hansaring area where the real nightlife happens. There’s this fantastic Turkish place called Hanse Döner literally around the corner that saved my life after a long day of meetings. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare in the old town, but the hotel has a garage (costs extra, naturally), and honestly it’s worth it rather than circling the narrow streets like a lost tourist. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after 9 PM, which was perfect for me, but if you’re looking to stumble home from bars at 2 AM, you might want to factor in a short walk or taxi ride. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no weird upselling or twenty-minute explanations of amenities I’ll never use. The staff actually seemed to know Cologne beyond just the standard tourist script, which made all the difference when I needed restaurant recommendations that weren’t straight out of a guidebook. For a 4-star place with an 8.5 rating, it delivers exactly what you’d hope for without any of the pretentious nonsense that sometimes comes with boutique hotels.

Thé perfect hotel experience – Kevin from Belgium – August 7, 2025 (9/10)
Great contemporary hotel. Modern rooms, superb breakfast.
What could be improved: Nothing reallyEven though it was a short stay, the Circle was a good pick. – Beatriz from Switzerland – August 6, 2025 (9/10)
The 25Hours Hotels are always fun, this one specifically. Already at the lounge there is a lot of fun corners to discover and the bedroom has a very cool design with open space concept. The best surprise: Hooks! There are hooks everywhere. It's like they heard my prayers! (Other hotels should take notes).
What could be improved: The design of the bedroom is very cool and fun, but the light concept could be improved as the the only shelves available to store your clothes are black and have no direct light. You might need your smartphone torch to find your items (but this is just a detail that could easily be improved).Fun quirky hotel for a city break – Emma from United Kingdom – July 30, 2025 (9/10)
Quirky hotel with big comfortable rooms. Great location a short walk to the centre, whilst enough out of it to feel peaceful. Lovely bar for cocktails and views.
What could be improved: Would love to have coffee making facilities in the roomExceptional – Pete from Australia – July 21, 2025 (10/10)

-i liked the bike hire and cycle routes so I managed to see a lot about cologne by bike which was super nice
